Top 5 Announcements From Guerrilla Collective Showcase 2023

With so many summer showcases focused primarily on major AAA titles, the indie-centric Guerrilla Collective is definitely needed! And this year more than delivered – viewers got a full THREE HOURS of exciting new indie game announcements in genres ranging from retro shooters to creepy survival horror and more. It was practically impossible to pick only five announcements to highlight from this showcase, and we STRONGLY recommend checking out the entire thing. But for now, here are five of GameLuster’s favorites!

Forgotlings Is A New Title From Forgotten Anne Developers

GCForgotlings

One of the many World Premieres during the 2023 Guerrilla Collective show was Forgotlings, a side-scrolling action-adventure title with a cinematic art style. Starring various man-made objects that humanity has forgotten – from toys to home appliances and more – Forgotlings is a spiritual successor to Throughline Games’ Forgotten Anne. It will release in 2024 for Nintendo Switch, PC via Steam, and both PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

Remnant II Returns To A Demon-Infested World

GCRemnant2

In Remnant: From the Ashes, players fought back against an encroaching evil called “the Root” that threatened all of humanity. Now, in Remnant II, coming Summer 2023, decades have passed and humanity is barely clinging on as the Root grows ever stronger. This third-person shooter will feature Soulslike elements, a mix of ranged and melee combat, and several exciting worlds to explore when it releases for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

Toxic Crusaders Brings Back A Classic Cartoon

GCToxic

It may have been several decades since the Toxic Crusaders graced television screens to battle pollution in Tromaville, but now they’re back! Toxic Crusaders: The Game allows players to take on the roles of Toxie, Yvonne, Junkyard, Nozone, and more – or several at once, in four person co-op mode! The game is fully voice acted and features comic book-inspired cutscenes as well as a retro pixel-inspired art style. It’s currently scheduled for a 2024 release.

World Of Horror Is A Treat For Junji Ito Fans

GCworldof

Inspired by legendary horror mangaka Junji Ito, World of Horror takes place in a black-and-white world where reality is slowly crumbling. It’s up to you and your friends to solve the mysteries infecting your town, but, the deeper you dig, the greater danger you find yourself in. There are many more creatures than just humans inhabiting the world – and most are not friendly! World of Horror debuts on October 19, 2023 for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.

Death Trick: Double Blind Is Immediately Intriguing

GCdeath

The overwhelming personal favorite announcement among GameLuster staffers, Death Trick: Double Blind is described as a dark fantasy-mystery hybrid set in a secret-filled circus. Featuring nonlinear deduction-based gameplay, Death Trick challenges players to solve the mystery at the game’s core while taking on the role of an unlikely detective duo: a magician and a private eye. Although the final release date for this game has not yet been announced, a demo is currently available to download and play for free.

Of course, these are only a fraction of the titles revealed during the 2023 Guerrilla Collective event. Others included the word-based Leximan, the retro throwbacks Annalynn and ANTONBLAST, the soon-to-be streamer favorite Do You See Sparky?, unexpected (but highly anticipated!) sequel Dark Deity 2, and many more.
