Spike Chunsoft is set to bring another visual novel adventure to the west with YU-NO: A Girl Who Chants Love at the Bound of this World for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Steam.

The game follows the story of Takuya Arima, a teenager who receives a suspicious package from his supposedly-deceased father, containing a device that allows him to travel between parallel worlds. Arima must discover the mystery of his father’s legacy with the help of his friends, teachers, and many lovers. What specifically can you expect from this game? Below is a list of key features:

The Power of the Reflector – Explore multiple timelines and revisit events through the unique gaming mechanic of the Reflector Device. This allows you to explore every timeline in detail. Activate the Reflector Device’s Auto Divergence Map System to return to an event with more knowledge and new items.

Your Father’s Clues – Solve all the mysteries of Sakaimachi to uncover the secrets lying beneath Sword Cape. Collect items from one timeline and use them in the next to unlock Sword Cape’s hidden truth.

Love Beyond Worlds – Can you find the hidden world waiting beyond Sakaimachi? Fall in love with every character to reach the true ending to this 40+ hour visual novel.

Interestingly, this isn’t exactly a new visual novel experience. YU-NO originally arrived back in 1996, offering players more adult scenes than what will be found in this HD remake. Despite cutting back on some of the more adult sequences, the visual novel has still received an ‘M for Mature’ rating, likely due to questionable character routes, themes, and language. This censorship will affect consoles, though Steam will still receive the uncensored version.

Different pre-order bonuses will be available depending on the platform. PlayStation 4 owners will receive a mini-cloth poster featuring Eriko Takeda, the mysterious school nurse at Sakaimachi Academy. Switch owners will receive a download code for 8-Bit YU-NO’s Great Adventure, an add-on action game featuring the main characters from the primary title.

YU-NO‘s coming to the west on October 1st for $49.99. If you have a passing interest in YU-NO: A Girl Who Chants Love at the Bound of this World and want to get a good idea of what to expect, check out a trailer detailing the game’s various characters below.
