Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun Release Date Revealed In Chaotic New Trailer

Focus Interactive has revealed that Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun will let players slay the daemonic forces of Chaos on PC and consoles from May 23.

In a new trailer, our lone Ultramarine is shown slicing, dicing and shooting all manner of foul warp beasts from Tzeentchian horrors, to the Great Unclean one.

It’s a wonder that there hasn’t been a 40K-inspired Doom clone before seeing as the setting is rife with demons to slay, space marines, and some ridiculously over-the-top weaponry including the Iconic Chainsword and Bolter.

It looks like developer Auroch Digital is bringing the goods with beautiful pixel art and frantic gunplay, and buckets of gore, or in their own words from the product description:

In glorious boomer shooter style, unleash your devastating Space Marine arsenal as you blast through an explosion of sprites, pixels and blood. Run, jump and charge across huge levels to shoot, shred and slice the worst heretics across the galaxy!

• Dive into a visceral combat experience, complete with viciously satisfying gunplay, high mobility and buckets of blood to reward your skills
• Dominate the battlefield with the awesome firepower and heavy metal of a Space Marine’s devastating arsenal
• Experience the ultimate homage to retro shooters, blending stylish visuals with fluid, modern FPS gameplay

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun will be bringing glory to the emperor when it releases on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC for $22 on May 23.

We can only assume, as is often the case, the previously announced Nintendo Switch version will be coming at a later date.

Is anyone else looking forward to Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun? Any 40K players got a favourite weapon they’re hoping turns up (the Plasma cannon has to surely!) or a daemon they want to slay? Is anyone else, like me, hoping for some Ork or Nid-flavoured DLC down the line? Sound off in the comments below.
