It’s a big day for Dynasty Warriors fans, as it was officially announced that the latest entry Dynasty Warriors Origins has already sold one million units worldwide! Along with this, it was revealed the demo of the game has crossed two million downloads, showing high levels of interest in the most recent entry of the long-running hack and slash franchise. Origins is the tenth entry in the Dynasty Warriors franchise, and the first new mainline game in seven years.
The success of Dynasty Warriors Origins is being celebrated by fans not just because a franchise they like is selling well – the Origins game is also seen as improvement by many on the last title in 2018, Dynasty Warriors 9. Both fans and critics alike have a similar impression that Dynasty Warriors Origins is a step in the right direction for the series, and that success being rewarded on the market is a very promising sign for whatever comes next for Dynasty Warriors!

It appears this success is a surprise even to the developers, as their original goal was to sell one million units of Dynasty Warriors Origins by the end of the quarter, which would have been in March. Given the game released on Jan. 17, this incredible sales feat was achieved in less than a month – a third of their original time schedule. It’s always good to see a long-running franchise have a critical and commercial redemption, and with Dynasty Warriors becoming 28 years old this year, it’s a lovely sign of life that the series can still be relevant and enjoyed in the big year of 2025.
