Marvel Rivals Are Changing Jeff The Land Shark, And Fans Are Divided

The upcoming Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 launches next week, and along with the new playable character Ultron, we’re also getting a bunch of character tweaks. The biggest of them all appears to be Jeff the Land Shark, the extremely adorable half-shark half-dog that took the Marvel Rivals community by storm since day one. However, the changes listed in the patch notes are so considerable that it seems to be dividing the player base across the internet as to whether it’s a good change or a bad change.

In short, Jeff the Land Shark now has half the healing bubbles he used to have and they can no longer provide burst healing, his regular primary fire has had healing reduced by a third but it also now damages enemies – and can go through them. His existing ability to attack with water bubbles now has charges but does slightly more damage. Finally, his ability to swim underwater anywhere on the map now has a timer. These are the most significant changes, and overall they reduce his healing potential whilst increasing his opportunities to deal damage.

Jeff the Land Shark
He may be a good boy, but the Marvel Rivals community is torn on Jeff’s kit changes.

This has caused a divide in the community for a few reasons. Some interpret these changes as simply making Jeff a ‘healbot’, meaning his best option in most opportunities will just be to spam healing. This is different from how he operates now before the changes, where his Aqua Burst attack is slightly weaker than it will be in the mid-season revamp but isn’t limited by charges. Others however feel that the changes are good, giving him more chances to deal damage with his altered primary beam weapon which allows for both healing-focused and damage-focused gameplay. Fans are that divided that a petition has even been created with almost 2,400 signatures calling for the changes reverted.
