Famitsu: Trails In The Sky 1st Chapter Debuts With Over 40K Sales

Every Thursday we share the weekly Famitsu sales charts, which tracks physical boxed game sales and hardware sales in Japan. This week’s chart covers September 15 – 21, as Mario Kart World once again holds the top spot. That story’s getting boring, so let’s take a closer look at this week’s debut releases and see how new games are performing!

At both second and third place on the sales chart is Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, with its PS5 and Switch releases respectively. They surprisingly sold around 21,000 copies each, for a combined total of over 42,000 units – which would’ve outsold Mario Kart World had Famitsu opted to combine the sales! The first part to the remake of 2004’s The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky is performing excellently with fans new and old, and it seems to be selling well also.

Two other games managed to debut on this week’s chart, with the physical edition of the Castlevania Dominus Collection scooping up almost 10,000 sales in its first few days on store shelves. The extravagantly titled The Quintessential Princesses: Fantasy, the Abyss and the Magic Academy also managed to grab last place in the top 10 thanks to over 5,000 copies sold.
