From memory Dead Space 3 was essentially the Crysis 3 of the Dead Space franchise, it showed so much potential and promise and then left you in bitter disappointment. After Dead Space 3 was released EA decided to stick Dead Space in a bed to rest and not receive any new entries, of course this doesn’t mean that Dead Space will stay down.
While speaking with Polygon, EA studios executive vice president Patrick Söderlund mentioned that Dead Space could return with an idea that makes sense.
“To the largest extent we can, we want to get the game teams to work on the things they want to work on themselves. There’s an incredible amount of enthusiasm over Hardline and the Star Wars game at Visceral. Do I think that we will create a Dead Space game again? Yes, I think so. But when we do so, we have to think about what made the previous ones successful and how we go about envisioning Dead Space for a new generation. Now, I’m not announcing a Dead Space game. We’re not building one just to be very clear, but I’m saying is there an opportunity or possibility to do one in the future? Absolutely.”
I would like to see a new Dead Space game in the future and I thin the Playstation 4 and Xbox One have the potential to bring out new possibilities for the franchise and recapture fans fondest memories while reintroducing the elements and ideas to others.
