Among Us Switch Glitch Lets Players Preview Airship Map

Eager fans have discovered a glitch in the Nintendo Switch version of Among Us which allows them to visit the Airship map prior to its release. It’s been an exciting couple of weeks for Among Us, the multiplayer social deduction game that’s got us all accusing our friends and family of being “sus.”

First, it won two Game Awards, Best Mobile Game and Best Multiplayer Game – and development team Innersloth gave what many are calling the most adorable and heartwarming acceptance speech of the night. Finally, earlier this week, Nintendo’s latest Indie World event closed with a surprise announcement that Among Us was coming to the Nintendo Switch – and that it would be available that very day. The team previewed the upcoming Henry Stickmin-themed “Airship” map, also at the Game Awards.

To access the glitch, players must first select the “Local” option for play, which has Airship as a select-able map (although it will not load properly in Local mode due to its unreleased status.) Then, switch to Online mode and host a room without choosing from one of the three existing maps. Once enough players have joined, it is then possible to start a game in the Airship map.

However, because the map is not yet released, it does not have all of the features and tasks which the map will eventually include. Players have also reported that the map frequently glitches and crashes, which also makes sense given that it not officially available to play.

It is likely that this glitch will be patched out soon. However, the Airship map’s release is currently anticipated to happen sometime in early 2021, so players will not have to wait too long to officially explore this brand new map.

Have you been playing Among Us on Switch? What do you think of what’s been revealed so far about the Airship map? Let us know!
