Atelier Ryza 2 Announced

Developer GUST and publisher Koei Tecmo have just announced the next entry in their long-running Atelier series, and the first numbered sequel since Mana Khemia 2. Titled Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & The Secret Fairy, it’s also the first entry with the main character returning from the previous installment.

Set three years after the events of Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & The Secret Hideout, the game marks the return of Reisalin “Ryza” Stout as she sets out for the Royal Capital of Ashra-am Baird, exploring ancient ruins, learning new alchemical recipes, and even picking up new skills like the ability to swim.  She’ll need every last trick in the grimoire as she makes her way through the region, uncovering the titular lost legends to reveal what’s been hidden away for so long. Some of Ryza’s companions from the first game will also be coming back to rejoin her expedition, as well as new comrades she picks up along the way.

For players who completed the first Atelier Ryza, having the save data will allow them to unlock the “Classic Costume Set,” a set of outfits to customize Ryza and her party as they appeared the first time around. Additionally,  players who purchase the game in the first two weeks either physically or digitally will get a code for the “Summer Fashion Costume Set.”

Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & The Secret Fairy has a tentative release window for this winter.  It will be available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam. There are currently no plans indicated for the game to come out for PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X.  Koei Tecmo has released a new teaser trailer, showing off some scenes rendered in the game engine and hinting at some of the places and characters players will encounter. Further news and updates can be found on the game’s website.
