After the last big Baldur’s Gate 3 update came out in September of last year, players have been patiently waiting for more subclasses, the new photo mode, as well as some much-needed fixes to the mod manager. Let’s also not forget the most important thing that is coming with Patch 8 for Baldur’s Gate 3 – cross-play.
With the new update coming out tomorrow, which is also the final major one planned for the game, here is everything you can expect for Baldur’s Gate 3‘s patch 8.
Firstly, cross-play will now be available to everyone, which allows players to easily connect to their friend’s games, whether they’re on PC, PlayStation, or Xbox. One way or another, there is more chaos to ensue from cross-play.
Next are the 12 new subclasses that are coming in. There is a new subclass for every class available with Patch 8. The subclasses are Bard-College of Glamour, Barbarian-Path of Giants, Cleric-Death Domain, Druid-Circle of Stars, Paladin-Oath of the Crown, Fighter-Arcane Archer, Monk-Drunken Master, Ranger-Swarmkeeper, Rogue-Swashbuckler, Sorcerer-Shadow Magic, Warlock-Hexblade, and lastly Wizard-Bladesinging. There seem to be no new classes coming to Patch 8.
That’s okay though, because mods are now getting a big update and are being made easier to add classes and remove unclear messaging, and the mod verification window is now going to trigger no matter where you connect to a multiplayer game!
Additionally, there is also a new mode coming to Baldur’s Gate 3 called Photo Mode. This new feature will allow players to run around the Sword Coast and take photos in combat, out of combat, sneaking, or whatever else your mind can come up with. Photo mode will also include the ability to edit your photos in-game. It will also give players the option to change positions, facial expressions, and the angle of the camera, the lens, and the setting for the scene. There are also a lot of effects that are able to be added on after the photo has been taken. The official game website has a bunch of memes that the community has already made!
A lot of previous bug issues are being fixed as well. One such bug fixed is being stuck at a 0% loading screen when trying to join a multiplayer session that is using mods. For more information on all of the issues fixed, Larian Studios is set to put out 48 entire pages of patch notes to look through.
Patch 8 for Baldur’s Gate 3 is going to be exciting and potentially bring back players that may have put it down for a bit. Patch 8 is also planned to be the final large-scale patch of the game to be added, allowing Larian Studios to focus on their other projects fully. Will you be checking the patch out?
