Battlefield 6 Launches As One Of The Most-Played Steam Games Of All Time

The launch of Battlefield 6 is finally here after a long wait, and it has seen an explosive reception amongst fans. Having only been out for two hours at time of writing, there are over 660,000 people currently playing Battlefield 6 concurrently on Steam – that makes it the 15th most-played game ever on Steam already in just a few hours, with an entire launch weekend ahead for the numbers to climb. It also breaks franchise records as the most-played Battlefield game on Steam ever.

This is an astronomical launch, because that player count is actually higher than the Battlefield 6 Open Beta ever reached, with a peak of 521,000 players when the beta was online just two months ago. Fans seem to have committed to making a purchase following on from the impressive beta, with the enormous Steam debut today showing a giant day-one audience on Steam alone.

The launch of Battlefield 6 is higher than any Call of Duty concurrent Steam player count has ever been, with the peak player count being three years ago with the launch of Modern Warfare II seeing over 491,000 players logged in simultaneously. The Call of Duty player count could be lower due to its availability on Windows PCs through Game Pass, but Battlefield 6 having a giant Steam debut shows a lot of full-price-paying customers, which in turn is a lot of money for EA.
