The massive Battlefield 6 Open Beta is finally here. After initially opening in a limited early access to massive player numbers that broke franchise records, the Open Beta has now begun its global rollout to all players around the world, and the results are massive. At the time of writing, there are over 500,000 people concurrently playing the Battlefield 6 Open Beta on Steam, which has officially broken Call of Duty’s franchise record for most played Steam release.
Back in 2022, the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II gave the shooter series its highest ever Steam concurrent player count of 491,000 users all playing simultaneously. All other Call of Duty releases and content drops failed to push this number any higher. Battlefield never managed to get anywhere close to that number, with its previous player peaks in Battlefield 2042 and Battlefield 5 only ever hovering around the 100,000 player mark. Now however, thanks to an overwhelmingly positive reaction and community fatigue with Call of Duty, the Battlefield 6 Open Beta has managed to surpass that Call of Duty record with over 500,000 concurrent active players on Steam.

The Battlefield 6 Open Beta must be a huge success for EA, as it’s also available on PS5, Xbox Series consoles and PC via the Epic Games Store and EA App, all of which are not included in the new whopping 500,000 player figure. We were incredibly hyped for the Open Beta release before launch, and it seems hundreds of thousands around the world were as well. This is a huge sign of interest in the return of the Battlefield series following its most recent lackluster entries, and we’re sure EA is hoping that these Open Beta players also opt to become paid players when the game launches in full on October 10.

Battlefield 6 is crushing it! 500k players on Steam? That’s wild. COD’s record was 491k, so this is a huge win.
