Borderlands creator leaves Gearbox Software

It was announced a couple of days ago that 2K Australia would be shutting its doors, however there is even more sad news to follow this with the creator and director of the Borderlands franchise Matthew Armstrong leaving Gearbox Software.

Armstrong is credited as the creator of the original Borderlands as well as creative director and has worked hard on the franchise as a whole, however he took to Twitter to announce that he was leaving Gearbox Software. This is what Armstrong had to say:

“Things changed. No longer working at @GearboxSoftware. I will always love Gearbox, but it’s adventure time.”

As previously mentioned this news follows the closure of 2K Australia, which Armstrong reached out on Twitter to offer his condolences to the people at the studio. Here is what he had to say to 2K Australia:

“The 2K Australia guys were amazing to work with, and there’s not one of them I wouldn’t work with again. Good luck, my friends.”

We wish the best for Armstrong in his future endeavors and look forward to seeing what he has to offer in the near future.
