Call of Duty Modern Warfare II: Spec Ops Due December 2022

The developers of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II have confirmed in a blog post that Special Ops will be arriving on Dec. 14. The updated Special Ops mode has been described as an “evolution” from the iteration seen in 2019’s Modern Warfare. The new Special Ops mode will feature three brand-new missions, all set within Warzone’s new map, Al-Mazrah. The first mission on the agenda is titled Low Profile.

This mission requires players to infiltrate a town at night and recover intel and evidence left by Al Qatala. Stealth is key to beating this mission, so get the silencers at the ready and stick to the shadows. If not, do what I do, cross your fingers and toes and go in guns blazing. The second mission is Denied Area. According to the description, several SAM turrets have prevented reinforcements from entering Al Mazrah. Players are tasked with using vehicles to navigate complex, winding suburbs to take out the SAM turrets and make it to a plane to escape.

The new Special Ops mode will join the game this December, building on the past version.

The last, Defender: Mt Zaya, has been described as a “love letter” for anyone out there fond of survival modes. Players are challenged with protecting an observatory from enemies with explosives. In the cooldown period between each wave of enemy attacks, players can spend cash for items, including Self-Revive kits, armor plates, and Killstreaks. Players will also be given access to a backpack to store equipment and one of three kits, Assault, Medic, and Recon.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare II will launch across all major platforms, including the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, and PC via Battle.net and Steam on Oct. 28. Also, the next iteration of Warzone is scheduled to launch on Nov. 16, less than a month before Spec Ops arrives.
