Call of Duty: Warzone 2 Will Wipe DMZ Progress In Season 2

It has been revealed today by Infinity Ward that any DMZ faction progress in Call of Duty: Warzone 2 will be reset in season 2 when it releases on Feb.15. For those who don’t know, the DMZ mode in Warzone allows players to explore its map, Al Mazrah for rewards and has often been compared to Escape From Tarkov. Despite it being one of the game’s most popular modes  it now appears that all the progress and inventory (Contraband and Keys) players have earned will now disappear.

A recent blog post by Call of Duty revealed a list of changes coming to the game – including the reintroduction of one-vs-one gulag fights (with the Domination-style flag control point) and a reduction in contract cash payouts. The DMZ mode will also receive new missions, easier AI enemies and of course, the full reset. Infinity Ward spoke about season two’s DMZ saying, “With Season 02, we’ve introduced a number of balance changes to adjust the types of AI spawning, the number of AI spawning, and the accuracy of AI at range and much more. All of this should provide a challenging but manageable play-space that still requires player respect of enemy combatants in the DMZ.”

Faction ranks will reset to Tier 1.

In a Reddit post discussing the reset, one user says “The quests are not fun enough for me to repeat them. Guess ill quit DMZ then,” whereas another commented, “I suspect the new missions will be more interesting and offer more rewards than just getting insured slots back.” It is safe to say that opinions are divided as despite the reset, more missions and overall features have been promised. However, for fans of other games in the genre, such as Tarkov, they are used to occasional resets.

Despite all this, fans were still unsure if a reset meant a total refresh and according to the Modern Warzone Twitter account, “Everyone will have their factions reset to tier 1.” However, Infinity Ward have also promised a future blog post that will “be detailing all the need-to-know intel for DMZ ahead of Season 02”. Hopefully this will clear up any confusion about the upcoming season.
