Conarium Continues Its Lovecraftian Terror On Nintendo Switch

Zoetrope Interactive and Iceberg Interactive’s unsettling Lovecraftian game has dropped on the Nintendo Switch e-shop.
Conarium is inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s novella “At the Mountains of Madness”, however the game is set after the events of the original story.

Conarium tasks the player as Frank Gilman to find out what happened at the Antarctic Upuaut station. The game also has multiple endings and plenty of Easter Eggs for those who like to delve deeper.

The 2017 game has received mostly positive reviews, averaging a 7/10 rating on Steam. Praise has been directed at the fresh take on the Lovecraftian source material, the ominous soundtrack, and for the game’s atmosphere. However, Conarium has received some criticism for its gameplay and for not pushing further into the Lovecraftian origin.

Lovecraftian horror is its own unique horror brand and has gathered its own fanbase in gaming, largely for its way to create otherworldly terror and a sense of insanity. A notable example being Bloodborne which has taken inspiration from Lovecraft’s horror.

Conarium could well be a hit for anyone who likes a psychological take on the horror franchise and doesn’t mind a first person perspective game.

The horror title has already been available on other platforms including PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam for some time, so Switch fans can finally join in on the story.

Conarium is available to buy through the Nintendo Switch store in Europe. The game is up for pre-order in North America, with the release coming on February 4. For a limited time, you can enjoy a 15% launch discount before the game returns to its $19.99 price.

The Switch port was revealed last year, taking to the virtual stage of Gamescom 2020. You can watch the announcement trailer below.
