After around a decade of waiting, Dead Island 2, the sequel to 2011’s Dead Island, is finally out. The game continues the legacy of its predecessor while introducing some significant changes. One of the things that remains the same is the top-notch co-op experience. Dead Island 2 is a great co-op zombie action RPG that you can experience with up to three players. There’s no denying that many of us have dreamed of surviving a zombie apocalypse with friends. While it is a far-fetched fantasy, you can experience it through Dead Island 2.
There are different quests, side activities, and more that you can experience in Hell-A along with your friends via co-op play. But since Dead Island 2 just released, at the time of writing, many players might need help getting started. We have prepared a handy guide detailing how to play Co-op in Dead Island 2.
Dead Island 2: How To Unlock Co-op
Dead Island 2 features the same four-player co-op system where one player serves the role of the host, and the other three are co-op partners. That said, if you want to play Dead Island 2 in co-op mode with friends, you must complete the single-player mission: Call the Cavalry.
You get the said quest once you complete the three previous story quests: Flight of the Damned, Desperately Seeking Emma, and Bel-Air Brawl. By doing so, players will get a quick pop-up stating that the Co-op feature has been unlocked.
Dead Island 2: How To Play Co-op
When it comes to playing Dead Island 2 in co-op mode, you can either host a session or join someone else’s game.
Hosting A Multiplayer Session
In order to host a co-op session, follow the steps given below:
Step 1: From the Main Menu, select the Online option.
Step 2: Set the Game Type from the options: “Public / Invite Only / Friends Only.”
Step 3: Press Continue.
Step 4: Invite your friends using the Social Menu.
Joining A Multiplayer Session
In order to join a co-op session, follow the steps given below:
Step 1: Head to the Main Menu.
Step 2: Click on Join Game.
Step 3: Click Quick Join to join a random player’s game.
Step 4: If you want to join a friend’s game, click on their name under the “Friends Online” section of the Join Game menu.
Note: Dead Island 2 does not feature cross-platform at this time, so players can only play with friends on the same platform.
