Discord Support Coming to Xbox Live

Microsoft has announced that Xbox One players will soon have access to Discord, the free voice and messaging service for gamers, over their system.

The announcement came from Xbox Live General Manager Daniel McCulloch, who stated in response to feedback that Xbox gamers will soon be able to link their Discord accounts to their Xbox Live accounts. Through this, players will then be able to see what their friends are playing, whether they are on PC, mobile devices, or on Xbox Live.

In his statement, McCulloch explained that “connecting with friends is such a big part of why people game,” and that, as part of Microsoft’s player-first initiative, they want to “provide gamers with more choice, allowing them to play how and where they want to.”

It has also been confirmed that mobile Discord users will be able to link their account with PC users in the next few weeks, though an exact date has yet to be announced. It seems that the inter-connectivity of the gaming world is continuing to come together bit by bit.
