Larian Studios has announced that their acclaimed fantasy role-playing game Divinity: Original Sin 2 will be released on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 this August. Bandai Namco will oversee the publishing of these ports.
According to Bandai Namco, a revamped interface has been added to support console play and the widely popular four player co-op will be retained. For fans of couch co-op, a split-screen two-player mode will also be available.
In regards to choosing Bandai Namco to publish the game, CEO of Larian Studios, Swen Vincke, stated that “it was very important to us to have Divinity: Original Sin 2 distributed by a team that understands how to bring RPGs to a broad audience. With Dark Souls and The Witcher, Bandai Namco demonstrated they know how to do exactly that and so I’m very happy we’ll have their support.”
VP of Marketing at Bandai Namco Europe, Herve Hoerdt, responded by saying that “this is an incredible opportunity” and that they are “extremely pleased to bring this outstanding title to our lineup.”
Released back in September 2017, the game has been nominated for many awards and has been placed in the top games of 2017 on many lists. A console port seems to be the clear next step to continue Divinity’s popularity.
