Dune: Awakening Delayed By Three Weeks, Now Releasing June 10

We previously reported that the massive multiplayer survival game Dune: Awakening from Funcom would be releasing on May 20. Unfortunately, the developers have now announced a delay of three weeks, pushing the release of their Arrakis survival simulator back to June 10. Those who are opting to purchase either the Deluxe Edition or the Ultimate Edition will still get their five days early access, with that advanced starting period now beginning on June 5.

In a statement shared on social media, the developers state that “with a bit more time to cook” they will be able to act on feedback provided by their beta testers who were already able to try out the game. They believe that the three weeks will “lead to a better gameplay experience from day one”, and despite the delay being short it is “not a decision we [Funcom] take lightly.” They end their announcement with a slight boast about Dune: Awakening, emphasizing that they’re “making gameplay and technical strides not seen in the genre before.”

We’ll be seeing more of Dune: Awakening very soon, as April 25 marks the day that content creators and journalists will be allowed to release coverage based on the ongoing major preview beta for those chosen by Funcom. If you’re still looking to sink your teeth into anything Dune: Awakening-related, they did previously release their free character creator and benchmark tool, and will continue to release more new content via their official channels the closer we get to the game launching.

Are you looking forward to Dune: Awakening releasing on PC this June? Are you upset by the news of this delay, or are you happy to see the developers taking the initiative to allow the game a while longer to cook?
