Famitsu Chart: Nintendo Switch 2 Crosses 1.6 Million Units Sold In Japan

Every Thursday we share the weekly Famitsu sales charts, which tracks physical boxed game sales and hardware sales in Japan. This week’s chart covers July 7 – 13, as the Nintendo Switch 2 crosses a whopping 1.6 million units sold total in Japan already. It’s easily outselling both the PS5 and the original Switch, and it seems it won’t be too long until we’re reporting the 2 million milestone crossed in the region.

As the Switch 2 is dominating, Mario Kart World is of course the #1 game as well. However, Tamagotchi Plaza has been strongly holding onto the charts for three weeks now, with its Switch release staying firmly at #2 thanks to another 13,000 copies sold, and the Switch 2 version also still charting at #9 with an additional 4,000 sales. Combined across platforms, Tamagotchi Plaza has now sold over 175,000 units in less than a month. Patapon 1 + 2 Replay also managed to chart this week with a debut at #3, selling over 8,000 copies.
