Fire Emblem Fates sells over 300,000 units in North America, series’ fastest-selling game in the U.S.

You can’t really deny the sale power of Fire Emblem in the modern era, what started as a Japan exclusive franchise that Nintendo was unwilling to bring to the world has spawned into something of a cult classic among western audiences. The big game that helped this movement was 2013’s Fire Emblem Awakening but now in 2016 we have a new game and it has now even had a better launch then the previous game. Fire Emblem Fates sold over 300,000 copies between all versions during its launch weekend, Nintendo has announced. It’s now the fastest-selling game in the history of the franchise in the United States.

Previously Fire Emblem Awakening held the record for fastest selling game in the franchise in the United States selling a respectable amount in three days, however Fates managed to sell five times as many copies.

In terms of which version performed better, it has been revealed that Birthright has been the biggest seller, however this is not putting Conquest as this version is only a little bit behind, or as Nintendo puts it “close behind.

Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive VP of sales and marketing, said of today’s news:

“Both fans and critics are falling for Fire Emblem Fates, and the early sales numbers prove the game’s undeniable appeal. This strong momentum for Nintendo 3DS is only the beginning, as many more high-quality exclusive games are set to launch for the hand-held system over the next few months.”
