The nostalgia-inducing Fortnite OG, a mode for Fortnite that turns the clock back to older seasons, maps and loot from Fortnite history, is coming back and it’s here to stay. Starting Dec. 6, players can drop back onto the island how they remember it way back in 2017, from Tilted Towers to Snobby Shores.
There is already a nostalgic Fortnite mode available at present, with the Chapter 2 Remix season currently ongoing and scheduled to end on Dec. 1. This mini-season allows players to drop on the Chapter 2 version of the Fortnite island, which originally started back in 2019. To keep things fresh though, the island is full of rapper collaborations, featuring Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and the forthcoming Ice Spice.
The return of Fortnite OG marks part of a trend in live-service games to go back to earlier states they were known for to capitalize on the nostalgia players had for these older versions. Just yesterday Overwatch 2 announced their new limited-time Classic mode, which will allow players to experience 2016’s launch day version of Overwatch once again.
It’s not exactly known yet how the “seasons” as specified in the Fortnite OG returning tweet will be integrated, whether they will change periodically or the player can choose which version of the Fortnite island they land on. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on the return of Fortnite OG when the mode drops next month.
