Fortnite Reaches New Highest Player Count With Remix: The Finale Live Event

Despite being over seven years old, Fortnite hit a new peak recorded player count today with its Fortnite Remix: The Finale live event, with 14.3 million players tuning in to the musical extravaganza – surpassing the previous highest record of 11.6 million players. The previous player count peak was during the iconic Big Bang live event, that saw the Fortnite island rebirthed in spectacular fashion along with the introduction of LEGO Fortnite and more. Today’s event however took on a different, more joyous tone.

The Fortnite Remix: The Finale live event gave us a compilation of performances from some of rap’s biggest names, opening with Snoop Dogg, followed by Eminem, Ice Spice and closing with a moving Juice WRLD performance. The event ended with the player, Jonesy and Hope diving into a new reality, as the island that we will occupy in Fortnite Chapter 6 made its appearance, before cutting off – to be continued tomorrow!

As the event came to a close, the new island for Fortnite Chapter 6 made a brief appearance.

The next season of Fortnite will open Chapter 6, which is set to be heavily Japanese themed. The gameplay trailer has already revealed many of the new skins we can expect to see in the Battle Pass, including Big Hero 6‘s Baymax and the legendary kaiju Godzilla. The season is also set to offer new movement options, such as wall jumping and rolling to break a fall, the new island we saw at the end of the latest live event, reworks to the Battle Pass system and more, starting tomorrow on Dec. 1.
