A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away… Fortnite announced their next big battle royale season, and it will be entirely dedicated to Star Wars! Releasing on May 2, Fortnite Galactic Battle will completely shake-up the Fortnite island, bringing new Star Wars locations, weapons, and of course, cosmetics. The season will have its own dedicated Battle Pass, with earnable cosmetics including the iconic Emperor Palpatine. Fortnite are known for their many collaborations, but this one seems particularly massive.
A full cinematic reveal trailer offers glimpses at all the new Star Wars-y things coming to Fortnite next month, and it’s almost overwhelming! We see the Death Star appearing in the sky over the Fortnite island, as Star Destroyers and TIE Fighters close in on both the Battle Bus and a fleet of X-Wings defending it. We then get brief glimpses of Mace Windu, a Tatooine-inspired island location flooded with Mandalorians, and a Jedi version of Fortnite‘s original Evie character facing off against the evil Darth Jar Jar. Yes, they made Jar Jar Binks a Sith Lord.
That’s not all there is though, as leaked key art for the Fortnite Galactic Battle season shared by many verifiable leakers showcases a Captain Phasma and Poe Dameron skin from the Disney sequel trilogy. They also confirm that Force Lightning will appear as a new Force Ability, both X-Wings and TIE Fighters will be rideable, Mandalorian jetpacks will allow players to soar through the sky – and of course lightsabers will make a return.
