The next God of War game has been pushed back until 2022, a PlayStation Blog Q&A with PlayStation Studios Head Hermen Hulst confirmed. Hulst stated that the effects of trouble with “access to performance capture and talent” is the reason behind the decision.
In the same vein, the blog post also revealed another big title might be seeing a delay too, stating that the currently planned holiday 2021 release for Horizon Forbidden West “isn’t quite certain yet” though they think they are on track and are working as hard as they can to confirm the release when they are able.
The official Twitter account for Sony Santa Monica commented on the God of War delay as follows:

The lack of news regarding the next God of War, generally being referred to as God of War: Ragnarök, so far this year means this probably won’t come as a shock to many people. But while we’ll have to wait longer to see what’s next for Kratos, Sony has also confirmed that the upcoming God of War title is in development for the PS4 as well as the PS5. In the Q&A Hulst commented that development for both PS4 and PS5 will continue “where it makes sense” though Sony also thinks it is important to have titles exclusive to the PS5 that can act as showpieces.
God of War will release for PS4 and PS5 in 2022.
Briefly, a great game. I have already played because I bought this game in this store. I recommend to buy anyone who can because it’s worth it.
