[Author’s note: High on Life has officially become the biggest Game Pass launch of 2022, as well as the biggest single-player Game Pass launch ever!]

The incredibly silly first-person shooter High on Life is currently the most popular game on Xbox Game Pass, overtaking Microsoft powerhouses Minecraft and Forza Horizon 5. As was first noticed by Benji-Sales on TwitterHigh on Life is performing exceedingly well for a new IP, becoming developer Squanch Games’ biggest hit to date.

The game is created by Justin Roiland, co-creator of iconic adult animated series Rick and Morty. The game is as whacky and weird as you’d expect then, with an all-star cast featuring the likes of Susan Sarandon, Jennifer Hale, Nolan North and even the cast from Red Letter Media. Despite middling Metacritic critics’ reviews, audience support for the game has been huge, with a far more favourable user rating.

The whacky world of High on Life is proving to be a hit with audiences.

It’s not only on Xbox that High on Life is finding success. Using Steam’s recently introduced Steam’s charts, we can see that the game is sitting at #7 on the global top selling chart, even rising up to #2 in Australia and #3 in Canada. With almost 2,800 Steam reviews, many of them glowing, High on Life currently has a ‘Very Positive’ rating.

Adding to the online chatter, a High on Life clip recently went viral on YouTube, showing how the talking guns react if you don’t use them to shoot in the game’s introduction. The gun, named Kenny, even goes so far as to berate the player if they dare pause the game instead of shooting. You can watch the clip here, but be warned, it features very strong language!
