Hyrule Warriors Legends began development after Wii U version launched

Since Hyrule Warriors Legends was announced I wondered when exactly the game started development, in its first trailer which we saw recently the game looked to well done to have only been for a short time, even with the use of many of the assets from the Wii U version. In an interview with Famitsu, game producer Yosuke Hayashi shared some information about the newest game, with one of the big things discussed being when the game began work. As it turns out Hyrule Warriors Legends began planning just after the Wii U version released, Hayashi had this to say:

That was after the release of the Wii U version. The Wii U version got a positive reception from people who played it, but as there are already many Zelda titles on the Nintendo 3DS, many Zelda fans said “I’d like to play this on 3DS”. The development of the Nintendo 3DS version took off from there.

Look at it now fans are getting what they want and we can’t be happier.
