K-Pop Band BTS To Collaborate With RPG MapleStory

South Korean boy band BTS (also known as the Bangtan Boys) have become one of the most popular and best known K-pop groups in the world. Recent achievements include releasing their first English-language single, “Dynamite,” making their first appearance on the MTV Video Music Awards, debuting a new album entitled “Be,” and…collaborating with long-running massive multiplayer online role playing game (MMORPG) MapleStory?

That’s right. A collaboration between BTS and MapleStory has been officially announced. Developer Nexon has not revealed any details about the collaboration itself, but have announced that a series of videos showing the band working with the MapleStory team will be released over the next three weeks. The first video will drop tomorrow, November 25.

A preview of the video series is available to watch on YouTube now:

The collaboration will be available for both the standard PC version of MapleStory and its mobile version, MapleStory M. It will likely feature cosmetic items themed around BTS, which can be obtained via either in-game currency or random “Premium Surprise Style” boxes.

The members of BTS have been rumored in the past to be big fans of MapleStory. In particular, one member, Jin, has admitted to previously playing the game and then quitting when he accidentally destroyed a rare item while attempting to upgrade it. This collaboration definitely seems to be a dream come true for the boys, and it looks like they’re enjoying themselves at Nexon headquarters in the video preview.

The MapleStory collaboration is not BTS’ first experience with the world of video games. There are two mobile games, BTS World and BTS Universe Story. In addition, new choreography for “Dyanmite” was debuted via Fortnite’s “Party Royale Mode” in September.

If you’re a BTS fan, then you’ve still got time to sign up for MapleStory before the collaboration event kicks off at a yet unrevealed date.
