Earlier this month, Fortnite developer Epic Games indicated that they were considering adding a monthly subscription service to the popular free-to-play battle royale game. Now, it has been officially confirmed that the subscription service is coming.
Titled “Fortnite Crew,” the monthly subscription service will debut on December 2, the same day as the launch of Chapter 2 Season 5. Fortnite Crew will cost $11.99 per month, and will include the following:
- The Battle Pass for the full season
- 1000 V-Bucks per month
- An exclusive Crew Bundle, which will contain new outfits, bling and gear
Fortnite Crew expands on the existing Battle Pass system, which premiered in 2018. The Battle Pass unlocks missions and challenges which players can complete to earn a variety of rewards including outfits, gear, vehicles, emotes, music, and more. Epic has confirmed that players who previously purchased the Season 5 Battle Pass will have their V-bucks refunded should they now choose to purchase a Fortnite Crew subscription instead.
Additionally, the first Crew Bundle has been revealed. It contains the Galaxia Outfit, a cool body-suit like garment with a pattern of stars and outer space, as well as the Cosmic Llamacorn Pickaxe and Fractured World Back Bling. The entire outfit gives the wearer a cool “out of this world” look which will definitely make a splash on the battlefield!
Epic has announced that each future Crew Bundle will contain at least one new outfit and one new accessory, neither of which can be obtained using any other method.
Fortnite Crew subscriptions can be purchased via either the in-game Item Shop or the Battle Pass purchase screen.
Fortnite’s current season features a crossover with Marvel, with various heroes and villains making their way to the Fortnite islands to join in the Nexus War battle event. The Nexus War finale, which will occur on December 1st, will feature the villain Galactus attempting to destroy reality itself with only the players and heroes standing in his way.
