Typically I would not call this news, but this is one interesting tidbit about The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild that I had to share, during the Nintendo Treehouse stream it was revealed that Korok’s from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker will appear in this game. This will be the species second appearance in the series, and this brings up some interesting questions, what other species exist in the world? What part of the Zelda timeline is this set in?
Will we also see the Rito, or the Kikwi’s? There are so many Zelda species that I feel Nintendo could populate this world and make it seem alive while also telling the story of these characters and what happens to them.
Furthermore Korok’s only appeared after the Great Flood following Ocarina of Time, it is believed that much like the Rito were evolution’s of Zora, the Korok’s were evolution’s of the Kokiri. According to Nintendo this is Hyrule, but where is this game actually set, does it follow a return to Wind Waker years later where the flood has subsided and Link searches the ruins of the ancient kingdom. Or, do these Korok’s pre-date Link’s adventures in Ocarina of Time, and this game follows another part of the timeline. This really gives a lot to think about and I feel Nintendo knows the significance of this creatures appearance, the theories are going to be interesting.
