Besides the Master Sword, Majora’s Mask is one of the most iconic items that you can find in the Zelda series. Unsurprisingly, this creepy accessory has returned in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and it may be the most challenging object to obtain in the game.
Since Tears of the Kingdom doesn’t attach Majora’s Mask to any quest, it is highly likely that some players never find this item during their first playthrough. Luckily, you do not need to get frustrated trying to discover this cursed object on your own, because this guide can tell you the exact location of Majora’s Mask!
Majora’s Mask Location In Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom
You can obtain Majora’s Mask in the Floating Coliseum in Central Hyrule Depths. The easiest way to reach this location is by jumping into the Great Plateau North Chasm on the Great Plateau.
If you’ve played Breath of the Wild, you may be familiar with this area, since it was the location of one of the tutorial shrines. The Sheikah ruin is long gone and has been replaced with a gaping hole that will lead you to the Depths.
Once you land in the Depths, head northwest until you discover the Mu-ustust Lightroot. Interacting with the plant will light up the surrounding area, making traversing the underground much easier.
Since the Depths reflect the Surface, you can find the Mu-ustust Lightroot right underneath the Tsutsu-um shrine. After the map is revealed, it should look like this:
Your next goal is to reach the Floating Coliseum located underneath the Coliseum Ruins on the Surface. Inside the building, you will find a chest covered in Malice. Ensure that you’re prepared before approaching the object, since the Coliseum gate will close when you enter!
It is recommended to bring a bunch of Sunny dishes that can recover broken hearts caused by Gloom. You can cook Sunny meals by incorporating Sundelions into your food. The more Sundelions you add, the more hearts the dish can restore.
To unlock the chest containing Majora’s Mask, you must defeat five Lynels in a row. The Blue-Maned Lynel will be the first and easiest foe, and the last one you must face is the Armored Silver-Maned Lynel.
Unless you have several Ancient Blades, which can quickly eliminate even Lynels, you will need to beat each monster one by one. Although they may seem intimidating, you only have to learn their attack pattern to defeat these monsters. Once you can dodge or block their hits, the fights will become a walk in the park since you can use Flurry Rush to reduce their HP quickly.
The only one that may give a harder challenge is the Armored Lynel. You must break its tough armor before you can hurt the creature, and you can do so by performing Flurry Rush or throwing Bomb Flowers at it.
On a side note, don’t expect too much from the Sages. They can help you deal some extra damage, but you have to be the one who kills the monsters to earn your reward. The Lynels will also keep their attention on you most of the time, so you can’t use the Sages as your shields.
Since the Lynels can hit very hard, the best time to challenge this Coliseum is during mid to endgame when you have a lot of Hearts. You can certainly try this in the early game and turn the battle into a Souls-like boss fight, but it might take you an hour to chip away the monsters’ health bars.
