When Nintendo announced that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s first wave of DLC would be adding Coconut Mall, the beloved track from Mario Kart Wii, fans were somewhat disappointed with what they were given. Despite how popular the course was, they found that it had been altered for the Nintendo Switch release. In the original Wii game, the Shy Guys in cars at the end of the course would drive back and forth as an obstacle for the player. In the first wave of the Booster Course Pass DLC for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe however, the Shy Guys simply sat still.
Not only has the moving Shy Guy functionality now been restored in an update with the release of the Wave 2 DLC, but Nintendo bumped up the aggression. Instead of calmly driving back and forth, the Shy Guys now violently spin around in the most intense donut we have ever witnessed. The once innocent Shy Guys who were simply looking for a parking spot at the Coconut Mall are now out for your blood specifically. Don’t believe us? Check out the video here:

We’re pretty sure this would count as a felony under a reckless driving charge, but perhaps the rules of driving are different in the Mushroom Kingdom. Despite the annoyance this mechanic is sure to cause players, it is nice to see Nintendo listening to player feedback and making a simple yet effective change to the iconic course.
