Marvel Rivals In Contact With Nintendo For Potential Switch 2 Release

One of the latest games that has taken the world by storm is Marvel Rivals, a hero shooter like Overwatch that lets players control their favourite Marvel heroes in online team-up battles. The game launched on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series consoles – so Nintendo fans have been wondering if they might get the chance to try Marvel Rivals. Thanks to a question asked by IGN to Marvel Rivals producer Weicong Wu, we now know that there’s active work being done to get the game in the hands of Nintendo players with the upcoming Switch 2.

According to Wu, the development team are already “in contact” with the folks over at Nintendo, and they’re “working on some development kits”. Whilst this isn’t confirmation that Marvel Rivals will be releasing on Switch 2 any time soon after its release, they do say “whenever we find that we could provide great performance of our game on Switch 2, we’re open to that”. We also get confirmation the game isn’t on the current Switch due to technical limitations, with Wu saying “they [the first Switch] cannot provide a great experience of gameplay”.

With the Switch successor set to be a more powerful system, Marvel Rivals on Switch 2 could become a possibility.

The technical limitations of the first Switch held back a lot of releases, with many big games over the years since the release of the system opting to miss the Switch, despite its incredible sales performance. With the Switch 2 allegedly being a significantly more powerful console, hopefully we’ll see an end to the era of Nintendo missing out on big third-party titles, and a rise in Switch gamers being able to join in on some of the other latest big hits in gaming – potentially like GTA 6?

Would you enjoy being able to play Marvel Rivals on the Nintendo Switch 2? What other games are you hoping will be playable on the system? Sound off in the comments below, and keep your eyes on GameLuster for more breaking gaming news.
