Master Chief Voice Actor Confirms Halo 2 Anniversary for 2014 Release

In a recent interview with GameZone, voice actor Steve Downes shot down rumors that Halo 5 might find its way to releasing this year, stating that he “… wouldn’t expect anything until 2015.” He did however offer a silver lining, by confirming that we can look forward to seeing an anniversary edition of Halo 2 coming later this year. He did not say whether 343 Industries, who took over the franchise for Halo 4, would be the ones developing the game, nor which consoles it was expected to release on, but this is the first piece of solid evidence confirming rumors that have been floating around.

“I think you may be ahead of yourself on Halo 5,” Downes said. “I wouldn’t expect anything until 2015. What you can look forward to this year is an anniversary edition of Halo 2.”

2014 marks the 10-year anniversary of the release of Halo 2, the final game in the franchise which saw a release on the original Xbox, and fans of the series at least partially attribute the success of early Xbox Live to the solid multiplayer experience that this game brought to the table.

So, to confirm, no plans for Halo 5 this year, but hopefully sometime soon we can see what a current/next gen Halo 2 will look like, which is pretty exciting in itself.
