Long-awaited indie title Mineko’s Night Market, initially announced a few years ago, now has a release date at last – and it’s sooner than many fans expected! The game’s release Sept. 26 date was revealed during Nintendo’s Indie World Event today, which featured 20 minutes of news regarding upcoming indie titles for the Nintendo Switch.
Inspired by Japanese culture and mythology, Mineko’s Night Market sees players step into the shoes of Mineko, a young girl living in a town once blessed by the legendary Cat God Neko. Now, with Neko’s blessings faded into the realm of myth, the town has instead made its own blessings in the form of its regularly held Night Market event.
As Mineko, players can explore the town and the surrounding area to find plenty of items that can be sold at the Night Market. In addition, Mineko can craft items and perform preparation tasks such as cutting flower stems or sewing toys and accessories to sell. But there’s so much more to do than simply hunt down and sell items – Mineko can participate in cat races, perform on stage, and much, much, more!

In addition, there are tons of locals to befriend, mysteries and secrets to investigate, and puzzles to solve as Mineko explores the island where she lives. Perhaps you might even be able to discover where Neko has gone, and whether the cat god has returned to give blessings to Mineko’s village once more? Regardless of how you choose to play through this adorable indie game, there will be so much for Mineko to do and discover – plus, of course, so many cats to play with!
Mineko’s Night Market will release for the Nintendo Switch on September 26, 2023. It is also planned to release for PC via Steam, although it has not yet been confirmed whether the PC release date will be the same. Are you going to pick up the game? Let us know in the comments below.
