As Netflix’s Geeked Week comes to a close, three anime series based on Ubisoft titles have been announced. Looks like Netflix is going all-in on adapting video game series for TV and embracing its foray into mature anime like Devilman Crybaby and Castlevania.
The first of these series to get the anime treatment is Splinter Cell, Variety reports. While this may not be the new game fans were hoping for, there’s movement in the Splinter Cell franchise, so expect theories to abound for what this announcement means for the near future of the IP.
The next up is the wonderfully outrageously named Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, a self-proclaimed “remix” of standalone Far Cry 3 expansion Blood Dragon, with Adi Shankar at the helm as creator and Executive Producer. Cyberpunk and vapourwave flavour abound in this brightly coloured, homage-heavy offering from Bobbypills production studio. Captain Laserhawk doesn’t follow the Blood Dragon game outright; instead it’s an original anime drawing inspiration from the Ubisoft characters.

Finally, there’s another Far Cry anime in the works. Whether this will be an adaptation of one of the games, some type of original fare, or even a tie-in, we don’t yet know. The team for this series is still being put together, but as with the other two, Ubisoft’s Hélène Juguet, Hugo Revon, and Gérard Guillemot will be producing.
There are no release dates for any of these titles so far, and no further information on Netflix’s previously announced live-action Assassin’s Creed series either.
