Square Enix has revealed brand new details about the new DLC chapter coming in Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, which is set to bring fan favourite character Yuffie into the world of the remake. First off, we’ve now got an official title for the DLC: Episode INTERmission. Also, Square Enix gave fans some details regarding gameplay in the new chapter, explaining specifically how Yuffie, a Wutai ninja, will control.
According to the press release, “Yuffie shines in both close and long-range combat. As a member of Wutai’s elite corps of ninja operatives, she has a unique play style which allows her to throw her iconic massive throwing star at enemies.” With regards to materia and elemental abilities (staples of the Final Fantasy franchise), Yuffie “is able to attack with long-range ninjutsu that can be augmented with her Elemental Ninjutsu ability, which can change its affinity to fire, ice, lightning or wind.”
Alongside this description, we also found out about a couple of Yuffie’s unique abilities. “Banishment” does more damage based on the amount of ATB used before it, and its elemental affinity can be changed with Elemental Ninjutsu. Another move called “Windstorm” allows Yuffie to harness the wind to damage enemies and draw them towards her. For now, this is all we know, but Square Enix promised in the press release that there more “new combat and gameplay additions” to discover.
Square Enix also confirmed which characters, both new and old, will be appearing in the DLC. Alongside Yuffie, a new companion character named Sonon, and familiar villain Weiss, fans will also meet Nayo, Billy Bob, and Polk in the new chapter (all members of Avalanche HQ). There’s no new story info beyond this, so we’ll have to wait and see what Episode INTERmission has in store for Yuffie.
