Nintendo Indie World October 2026 Showcase Reveals Threads of Time, Tenjutsu, City of None and More

Nintendo’s October 28 Indie World showcase revealed more than 20 indie games for Switch 2 and Switch, led by City of None, Tenjutsu and Threads of Time. The showcase Nintendo set for that date leaned hard on Switch 2 as the primary target platform, with a release calendar running from same-day launches into Spring 2027.

City of None is the Celeste studio’s return

Extremely OK Games, Ltd., the studio behind Celeste, announced City of None for Switch 2 and Switch in 2027, alongside a PC release first announced in April 2026. Players control a spirit in a wooden body fighting the “ravenous Barons” across five city sectors, with Metroidvania-style progression and limited-palette pixel art. “A metropolis crumbles into ruin as powerful Barons feast on souls lost in time,” Nintendo of America said in the announcement post.

It is the studio’s first project since Earthblade, unveiled in December 2022 with a 2023 release window, was delayed and ultimately canceled amid disputes over the Celeste IP rights.

Tenjutsu and Threads of Time headline the rest

Tenjutsu, a beat ’em up with roguelike elements from developer Deepnight Games and a former Dead Cells director, is published by Devolver Digital and arrives on Switch 2 in 2027. Devolver’s Steam listing describes it as a martial-arts action roguelike with combat customization and world transformation.

Threads of Time, developed by Riyo Games and published by Balor Games, is a turn-based RPG combining JRPG foundations with 2.5D pixel art powered by Unreal Engine 5, set for both Switch 2 and Switch in 2027. “From an age where dinosaurs roam to the far-flung future and alternate realms in between,” the studios said in the press release, players travel “across fantastic and distinctive time periods.”

Winds of Viridia, published by Shark Jump, launches on Switch 2 in 2027, per Nintendo’s store page, and a demo went up with the show. Bao Bao’s Cozy Cleaning Services launched on Switch and Switch 2 the same day.

The dated 2027 slate

Per the dated rundown of the showcase at TheGamer, Witchbrook from Chucklefish and Robotality lands January 28, 2027 with online co-op. Slime Rancher 2 arrives on Switch 2 in January 2027, Petal Runner on March 8, My Arms Are Longer Now on Switch and Switch 2 on March 11, and Super Battle Golf on March 25. Haunted Paws is dated for May 2027, while Dumpster Gang, Repo, Kitsune: The Journey of Adashino, Finding Polka and Acclaim’s Snowboard Syndicate carry broader 2027 windows. Sword of the Sea ended its PlayStation console exclusivity when it launched on Switch 2 on October 29, the latest sign of the Switch 2’s indie pipeline.

Raccoin and Tanuki: Pon’s Summer both bring Switch 2 editions on November 10, 2026, and Raccoin has a demo available now.
