Witchbrook finally gets a release date: January 28, 2027

Chucklefish’s long-awaited witch life sim Witchbrook will launch on January 28, 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, the publisher announced during Nintendo’s Indie World Showcase on October 28, 2026.

The date ends a nearly decade-long wait for one of indie gaming’s most-requested games. First teased back in 2016 and revealed under the Witchbrook name in 2018, the game was most recently delayed from its Winter 2025 window, with the studio saying at the time it needed the extra time to “ensure the world feels rich, immersive, and alive”.

What the trailer showed

Nearly two minutes of new gameplay opened the showcase, showing more of Mossport, the seaside town where players take on the role of a new student at Witchbrook College. The footage included attending magical classes, upgrading skills and tending to crops, alongside the game’s pixel art visuals.

Witchbrook is developed by Chucklefish with co-developer Robotality, and supports up to four-player online co-op, solo or with three friends. Players attend classes, take on side jobs to pay tuition, bond with classmates, and take part in seasonal events, romance, after-school clubs, cooking competitions, home decoration and broomstick races. The game is rated Teen by the ESRB.

A same-day launch on Switch and Switch 2

The Switch and Switch 2 versions arrive the same day as the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC releases, a notable multiplatform commitment for an indie title. Steam already lists the January 28, 2027 date on the Witchbrook store page. No price has been announced yet.

Witchbrook now lands in a crowded early 2027 window that includes Fable and Persona 4 Revival. Witchbrook hits all five platforms on January 28, 2027.
