Nintendo of America has applied to renew the trademark for Eternal Darkness

Back on the Gamecube Nintendo released a rather interesting horror game called Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem, this game itself has gone on to be a cult classic and fans have been asking for a new Eternal Darkness game for quite some time, something Nintendo has basically refused to do. The last game was quite a long time ago and Nintendo is struggling to hold onto the trademark, it now seems that Nintendo might be getting ready to do something with Eternal Darkness though as Nintendo of America has filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for a renewal of their trademark of Eternal Darkness. Exactly what Nintendo is requesting though is a six-month extension to their deadline for filing a Statement of Use, which is proof they are using the trademark commercially. Because of this it seems Nintendo should be making a proper use of the brand, though exactly what they have planned is unknown, though given recent developments in the company it could be just about anything. Perhaps Nintendo has one of their surprise games for E3 as a new announcement, or maybe they plan to use it for movie or theme park purposes, lately the sky is the limit for Nintendo we will just have to wait and see.
