Nintendo released their latest round of financial results earlier today, with a bunch of updates on Nintendo Switch and games sales figures. The material confirms that the Nintendo Switch has officially crossed the 146 million sales mark, an impressive feat despite the system’s ongoing slowdown in sales as it reaches its eighth year on the market. Along with the look back at the Switch’s success, there were also slight comments made on its future.
The information isn’t anything new, but Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa reaffirmed today that the successor to the Nintendo Switch is set to be revealed before the end of the fiscal year, so March 2025. No further details were added, but it’s nice to know that the speculative “Switch 2” will be shown to us within the next five months. After eight years of Switch, that wait for the Switch 2 reveal suddenly doesn’t look so far away.
Alongside the updates to Switch hardware sales numbers, we also got new figures for the sales of a bunch of Nintendo Switch titles. Perhaps most notably is The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, which in its first sales update is revealed to have sold 2.58 million units. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe remains the best selling game on Switch with 64.27 million sales, with second place going to Animal Crossing: New Horizon‘s gigantic 46.45 million units sold. Sadly, there were no new Splatoon sales numbers, so we don’t know if Splatoon 3 has yet outsold Splatoon 2.
Are you one of 146 million Switch owners, and if so, are you looking forward to the reveal of the Switch 2 sometime within the next five months? Let us know in the comments below, and keep your eyes on GameLuster for more gaming news.
