Nintendo Switch 2 Sold More Than 6 Million Units In Less Than Two Months

Nintendo just released their quarterly earnings release, and it’s their first financial report drop since the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2. As such, we finally got more information as to how the Switch 2 has sold, and the numbers are as impressive as the launch week was. After just seven weeks on sale, the Nintendo Switch 2 had sold more than 6 million units globally.

We know Nintendo were impressed with this figure, as it actually goes a little beyond the area the report was meant to cover. The Q1 FY26 period ended with 5.82 million Switch 2 consoles sold, which was on June 30. That’s just 25 days after launch, with the enormous sales once again indicating the historic rise of Nintendo in the console market once again.

Nintendo going out of their way to clarify Switch 2 sales are over 6 million units sold after “seven weeks” brings us up to last week, with July 24 being seven weeks since the Switch 2’s June 5 release date. They specify that Switch 2 sales are growing “at a strong pace”, but also note that “demand […] is exceeding supply in many countries”, which holds back how much the Switch 2 can actually sell at once.

The success of the Switch 2 also results in massive Mario Kart World sales.

The Switch 2 selling well is also good news for its games, as the launch title Mario Kart World has sold over 5.6 million units within the last quarter. This is an attachment rate of 96%, with the overwhelming majority of Switch 2 owners choosing to either purchase a Mario Kart World bundle or purchasing the game separately alongside their console purchase. We’re looking forward to seeing how other Switch 2 game launches perform in future reports, such as the recent Donkey Kong Bananza.
