Obituary: Lance Reddick, Dead At 60

TMZ is reporting that actor Lance Reddick is dead at the age of 60.  Police were called to his home in Studio City, CA this morning at approximately 9:30AM PDT.  There has been no reported indication of foul play and the death is believed to have been from natural causes.

Reddick’s filmography stretches back almost thirty years, with IMDb recording his first acting credit on the TV series New York Undercover.  His more recent and well known roles in TV and movies include the concierge Charon in the John Wick movie series, Lieutenant (later Colonel) Cedric Daniels in HBO’s The Wire, and Special Agent Phillip Broyles in Fox’s Fringe.  Reddick’s work in video games was more limited, but no less memorable, playing the resolute Commander Zavala in the Destiny series and the enigmatic Sylens in Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West.  Less well known, Reddick was a musician, having studied classical composition and piano.

Reddick was born in Baltimore in 1962.  He earned a degree in music from the University of Rochester and later a Master of Fine Arts from Yale.  Most recently, he’d been on a press tour promoting the upcoming John Wick 4, though he was absent from the recent premiere in New York City. He is survived by his second wife, Stephanie Day, and two children, Yvonne and Christopher.

Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Lance at this time.
