How to Obtain the Keepsake Sword in Octopath Traveler 2
If you want to get your hands on this unique sword, you must complete a side quest known as Sword Hunter at Decaying Temple. You can do this by visiting the town of Sai in Hinoeuma and speaking with the NPC known as Young Warrior. After interacting with him, you will receive a quest requiring you to recover his father’s stolen sword.
Head eastward to enter the Decaying Temple. Be aware that only one character is allowed in your party for this task. The character you choose should be high level and equipped with strong weapons! Once you reach the end of the Decaying Temple, you’ll face a mini-boss called Sword Hunter, who has stolen the sword.
When fighting the Sword Hunter mini-boss, trust your battle prowess and prepare to go head-to-head. However, with 7 shield points, this fight won’t be a walk in the park. He will also consistently shift his weaknesses throughout the battle. Hikari is a great choice for this battle because of his physical strength. To increase your odds of success even more, make sure to equip the ‘Hang Tough‘ passive skill—this will allow you to survive powerful attacks with one HP remaining.
After successfully completing the 1v1 battle, you obtain the Keepsake Sword as a key item. Return to Sai and give the Sword to the Young Warrior, fulfilling your quest objectives. After that, if you wish to obtain this Sword for yourself, you may do so by either Stealing (Throne) during the day or Mugging(Osvald) at night.
