Oddworld: Soulstorm’s Latest Trailer Unveiled In Epic Games Store’s Spring Showcase

As part of Epic Games Store’s Spring Showcase, the latest trailer for Oddworld: Soulstorm was released. The ninth game in the Oddworld series will serve as a continuation from 2014’s Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty!, as well as being a re-imagining of 1998’s Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus.

The trailer explains a bit more about the new tools and threats players can expect to find. It doesn’t show us anything especially different to the previously trailers, but the narration certainly helps us get a bit more insight into the upcoming platform game.

The Oddworld Inhabitants spokesman explains that to combat threats, players will need to “use all new tools to get the job done. This includes crafting an impressive makeshift arsenal of weaponry scavenged from the environment.” It appears that players will get to use all sorts of new tools and weapons as part of the upgrade to the Unity game engine, as seen in the previous game.

The spokesman also notes that “the choices you make will determine the fate of Abe and hundreds more.”

The developers have also teased that Oddworld: Soulstorm will have “a fresh narrative” and “a big visual and cinematic leap aiming to break new ground for Oddworld.” Building on from its origin, players can expect to see greatly improved graphics, intelligent mechanics, and new devices.

The game has no set release date as of yet, but we know it is expected to be released in the Spring.

Oddworld: Soulstorm is coming exclusively to the Epic Games Store for PC, as well as to PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. It is available to pre-order on the Epic Games Store.

Food For Thought

The first game in the series, 1997’s Oddworld: Abe’s Odyssey holds a lot of fond childhood memories for me, so I am glad to see that the series still has a dedicated and excited fanbase today.
