Fans have been hoping and praying for a Nintendo Switch release of the acclaimed 2020 “Metroidvania” platformer-adventurer Ori and the Will of the Wisps. For a long time, it looked like it wasn’t going to happen — with spokespeople for Nintendo and developer Moon Studios saying that the game would not run well on the hybrid console. However, the rumors of no Switch port are untrue, and the wait is over at last — Ori and the Will of the Wisps is available via the Nintendo Switch eShop today.
Will of the Wisps is the sequel to the 2015 action platformer Ori and the Blind Forest, which saw a Switch release in 2019, four years following its original debut. The sequel continues the story of Ori, a white guardian spirit, who must travel through the mystical forest Niwen and search for the Wisps which watch over and power it to save their owl friend Ku. It features puzzles, platform-based levels, and upgrades, which raise Ori’s stats and increase the power of their attacks.
While the digital version of Ori and the Will of the Wisps is available to purchase immediately, fans of the series can also pre-order the upcoming Ori Collector’s Edition by visiting the series’ official Web site. The Collector’s Edition includes both Ori games and their soundtracks, a stained-glass inspired art piece, a field guide to Ori’s world, a collectible art card set, glow in the dark pin, and a gorgeous glow in the dark display box. You’ll be able to show your love for Ori like never before proudly!
