The Plants vs. Zombies franchise turns 16 this year, and developers PopCap are seemingly back from the dead as they’ve become active on social media once more. They’ve been posting regularly about free content in-game, along with developer updates and some fun roadtrip celebratory artwork. Perhaps most excitingly though is their response to one dismayed fan who was disappointed at the lack of big updates, as the official Plants vs. Zombies account says “we’ve got more exciting announcements coming the rest of the month”.
We know what many of you may be thinking, and don’t worry, we are too. It’s been six years this year since Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville, the continuation and third entry in their fan-favorite Garden Warfare spin-off series. Speaking personally, it’s one of my favorite third-person shooter franchises, and we’d love to see more from PopCap in regards to carrying on this series.
Sadly though, we don’t have any concrete news to report just yet outside of the fact that the Plants vs. Zombies social media team have confirmed we’ll be getting more announcements throughout the month. That gives us about three more weeks of longing, anticipation, and maybe a surprise payoff. The surprises could be anything, so take your hype with a grain of salt, as there’s many things PopCap could be planning to do with Plants vs. Zombies. As their social media presence becomes increasingly more active though, it seems at least something new is coming for the franchise.
