All the major game developers are currently releasing their financial results for their third quarter sales and across hardware shipped it appears Sony is on top once again. Microsoft posted a combined shipping total of Xbox One and Xbox 360 at 6.6 Million for last quarter, Sony of course has beaten them out again with 6.4 Million Playstation 4 consoles shipped alone, meanwhile the Playstation 3 has seen total 1.1 million systems shipped and Sony’s Portable Devices have shipped 1.4 million.
While we don’t know exact sales figures for units sold through to customers, that’s a very impressive 8.9 million total pieces of hardware shipped worldwide from October 1 – December 31. It is nice to see Sony still doing so well and that consumers clearly want to play on Sony’s platforms.
