PlayStation Plus December Lineup Includes a Mix of Indies

Just as we’ve come to expect with the closure of another month in the history books comes the exciting announcement of which games are set to excite PlayStation Plus subscribers. With this being the holiday season, Sony is delivering a roster of interesting games to close out the year.

PS Plus subscribers have a lot to smile about with an atmospheric horror game and an over-the-top action racer being the leading games on the PS4. Soma, an adventure game that pairs crude machines with terrifying monsters, is the leading horror game. Soma comes to us from Amnesia developer Frictional Games, and it is a departure from the company’s previous work.

Also on PS4 is Onrush, which released earlier this year but failed to meet sales expectations, causing layoffs at developer Codemasters. Despite this, Onrush is a high-octane racing game that focuses on ramming and crashing your way through all the vehicles in your way as you race to the finish line. Fans of Burnout might appreciate this game.

Moving on to the PS3, the first game is Steredenn, a space shooter that blends rogue-like elements to make your runs across randomly generated areas more intense. Visual novel Steins;Gate, perhaps better known for its anime counterpart, will also be available for PS3 owners.

Finally, the Vita has two big games. The first game is platformer Iconoclasts, which will also be available for PS4 users. The hit indie game Papers Please (also known as Having Morals is Wrong Simulator) will also be hitting the Vita, but it won’t be compatible with the PS4.

Remember that Sony intends to shut down PS3 and Vita free games support via PS Plus in March, so enjoy what you get while it lasts.

For those looking for more AAA action, Yakuza Kiwami and Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition are still available as November’s free PS Plus games for a few more days.
